FAQ

Common Questions

How much does solar pool heating cost?

Cost depends on your pool size and system requirements. Generally, solar heating systems start from a few thousand rands and offer a payback period of 2–4 years due to zero running costs. Contact us for a site-specific quote.

How long does installation take?

Most installations are completed within a day β€” sometimes two for larger or more complex setups. We'll give you a clear timeline when we quote.

Will solar heating work in winter?

Solar heating is less effective in winter due to shorter days and lower sun angles. It works best from spring through autumn. For year-round heating, we recommend a heat pump or a combined solar + heat pump system.

Do I need roof space for solar heating?

Ideally yes β€” a north- or north-west-facing roof section is best. The required roof area depends on your pool size; we calculate this during our site assessment. Alternative mounting structures can sometimes be used.

Can I combine solar with a heat pump?

Absolutely β€” this is a popular option. Solar handles most of the heating during sunny periods (at zero running cost), and the heat pump tops up temperature on cloudy days or in winter. It gives you the best of both systems.

Does a pool cover make a big difference?

Huge difference. Up to 75% of pool heat is lost through the water surface. A quality thermal cover prevents this, meaning your heating system works far less and your pool stays warmer for longer.
